We were instructed to assess moisture conditions and develop a commercial flood restoration strategy following an internal flood at a quayside property operating as a Michelin Star restaurant, with bed and breakfast accommodation above.
Black-Water Flood Damage to the Restaurant & Bar
A reported black-water backflow from a rear drain affected most of the ground floor, including the restaurant and adjoining bar.
Before our appointment, another restoration company advised that the business would need to close for several weeks while drying work was completed. The owner declined this proposal due to the potential loss of revenue, cancelled bookings and disruption to guests.
Our Discreet Specialist Drying Solution
Following discussions with the insured, surveyor and loss adjuster, we developed a tailored specialist drying solution that allowed the restaurant to remain open.
The existing floor finishes were uplifted and a further detailed clean was completed. We then installed a temporary false floor, enabling dry air to circulate discreetly across the affected screed.
A desiccant dehumidifier was concealed within a boxed enclosure, with access created through a sacrificial uPVC door panel. This kept the drying equipment out of sight and prevented noise or disruption within the customer-facing areas.
All installation work was completed during the restaurant’s closed period, between midnight on Saturday and lunchtime on Monday.

Our drying system operated beneath the restaurant and bar while the business continued trading as normal.
